A short time ago, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that people are becoming increasingly familiar with ‘Escape’ magazine as well as the ways in which it is spreading across the country and helping young people. Katya Girbu, the magazine’s most active ‘Escape’ contributor, was the first to tell me the encourag- ing news. For the past two weeks, she had needed to stay home due to an illness. One evening during this time, she was doing something in the kitchenand TV was turned on. It was time for the evening news on the national channel. Katya was lost in her thoughts, but a report on thesubject of social advertisements against violence and human trafficking attracted her attention. Journalists were approaching to people passing by in the street to ask them if they were noticing the social advertisements presented in the city. They stopped a schoolgirl and asked her: “Have you seen the social advertising? Do you know where to seek help in case you are in trouble?”
It didn’t take a long time for her to find an answer. She replied: “I will certainly call Beginning of Life. It is a cool organization and they have a magazine called ‘Escape’ which is distributed for free. Whenever I need help, I will contact them” At first, Katya thought it was a report about “Beginning of Life” but then she realized that the girl was one of the other passers-by interviewed by the correspondents. I immediately became glad to be a part of this movement...
Rodica, a beneficiary of the help center for girls from needy families wrote: “I recognizemyself and my life in the people about whomI read in ‘Escape’ magazine articles. I am extremely impressed by the courage of the young girls who were not afraid to tell about what had happened to them and how they had escaped from slavery.”
Christina, a young girl from the same center wrote to us: “The magazine teaches mepersonally to be careful when I am offered a job, especially a job in a foreign country. It makes me check the information twice even if it comes from friends and people I know well. Due to the magazine, I realized the value and dignity that women have in the eyes of God.
This is why I believe that it is worth keeping these qualities.”
